Measured RX carrier

Prescription Inserts Built Behind The Safety Lens.

The Shelter insert is a removable prescription carrier that sits behind the safety lens. It is treated as measured equipment, not a fashion optical add-on.

Suitability checklist

Five Details Decide Whether The Insert Is Sensible.

Shelter does not provide eye tests, contact lenses or medical advice. If the prescription is unsuitable for safe site use, the workshop will say no rather than glaze around the problem.

Process timeline

Seven To Ten Working Days From A Complete Prescription Pack.

  1. 01

    Prescription Check

Email the prescription, pupillary distance and working distance. Shelter confirms whether the requested insert is suitable.

  2. 02

    Payment Approval

Once the work is accepted, payment or approved trade account instruction is confirmed. Orders over £500 need a 50% deposit.

  3. 03

    Glazing And Fitting Check

The insert is glazed, checked in the carrier and matched against the S1 frame position.

  4. 04

    Dispatch Or Issue

Completed prescription inserts take 7-10 working days from receipt of valid prescription, pupillary distance and payment approval.

Limits and refusals

Some Work Is Turned Down Because The Wearer Has To Use It On Site.

Shelter does not glaze into untested third-party safety frames. The workshop also does not take children’s prescription work, same-day prescription inserts or varifocal insert work where the prescription, working distance or frame position is unsuitable.

No protection claim is made beyond the marked standard of the frame and lens supplied. The insert corrects vision behind the protective lens. It does not turn an untested frame into safety eyewear.

Matthew founded Shelter Eyewear in 2020 after years of replacing scratched site glasses that were uncomfortable or hard to reorder. That history is why insert work is kept measured and narrow. If it cannot be made repeatable, it does not belong in the range.

“If the insert is wrong by two millimetres, the wearer feels it all shift long before the paperwork notices.”
